The Cloning and Genetic Engineering Survey
As a part of my biology final research project, I've decided to research what people think about cloning. Before we begin, it's important for us all to know exactly what I'm talking about when I say "Cloning". Cloning is the process of making genetically identical copies of an organism. I will briefly explain human cloning here, in case you don't know anything about it. Human cloning would involve taking a DNA sample from a human, and fusing the DNA with an unfertilized egg cell. The egg would then be placed inside a surrogate mother, and it would grow and develop as a normal child. Unfortunately, this technique is very risky. It took 277 tries to get this to work on a cloned sheep, and would take many more in order to develop a healthy human. Human cloning could be used for a number of purposes, but scientists at this point in time, generally agree that it would not be justified to clone a human with this technique. In the future however, this could lead to major medical discoveries and advancement. Thank you for your time. If you want more information about cloning, Click here for a very good site which has information and a number of links to pages with cloning information.
